The surrounding area offers many pretty villages, many with pubs serving good food, local ales and cider.
This area of Somerset is noted for its many National Trust houses and gardens including Montecute House(Elizabethan) in the next village ( which was used for the film Sense & Sensibility. Lytes Cary, Tintinhull and Barrington Court.

Yeovil is only 5 minutes away and offers all the major shops and supermarkets, as well as some lovely old buildings, church and Green.

Enchanting Sherborne with its beautiful Abbey and two castles is 4.5 miles away.

Forde Abbey , with 30 acres of beautiful gardens, surrounding one of the oldest inhabited houses in England that is open to the public, is 25 minutes away.

The Jurassic coast is 35-40 minutes away offering the resorts of West Bay, Charmouth, Lyme Regis and Beer.,
Weymouth home of 2012 Olympic sailing, picturesque harbour, golden sands and Georgian history, is 30 miles.

60 miles away is Exmoor National Park and beyond it the west coast of Somerset including Minehead, as well as Lynton and Lynmouth in North Devon.

Glastonbury is 20 miles away.  Just outside of the town is the Rural Life Museum which is well worth a visit .Clarke's Village Retail Outlet is nearby at Street.

Wells, with its stunning Cathedral, is 45 minutes away

The beautiful city of Bath, featuring Roman baths to Georgian Pump Room and Royal Crescent,  is just over an hour away.

Yeovilton Air Museum with its aircraft carrier flight deck experience and one of the prototype Concorde aircraft which you can board and walk through, is only 15 minutes away.

Haynes Motor Museum is 20 minutes away.
